Leopards in Houston?

And these leopards aren’t of the feline persuasion! I had never heard of the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog (and official state dog of Louisiana) before arriving in Texas, but I am so glad that’s changed.  These dogs are beautiful, gentle creatures and appear to make great family dogs as demonstrated by Blue and Trip.

At the top of the Move-To-A-New-City-To-Do List (along with finding a worthy hair stylist…see previous post) is finding the right gym. After all, a girl’s got to stay in shape to chase after all these animals with camera equipment! Once again, reliable sources pointed me in the right direction, and I found myself signing up at Timberline Fitness Studio.  Not only is this place full of hardcore workout fanatics, they are avid pet lovers: perfect fit for me!  And this is how I came to know Blue and Trip, two very photogenic Catahoula mixes.

Blue and Trip look after Wooch, an owner/trainer/spinning extraordinaire of Timberline; his lovely wife, Jill, who is a graphic artist with her own company: Jill Smith Design; and Pace, an almost- 2- year- old budding adventurer.  Blue and Trip are littermates, and you’ll tell them apart by their coats:  Blue has grey/blue coloring and spots in her coat while Trip sports a reddish brown one with some white areas here and there. They both have beautiful eyes that will suck you right in for lots of treats and belly rubs!  One of Pace’s favorite things to do is to dole out the treats, and believe me, they stay close on his heels! Not sure who’s training who here…..
